Heart Yorkshire radio listeners will know that for the last two years we have been part of Heart Yorkshire’s Big School Showdown, in which Yorkshire teachers nominated by their pupils take part in a 10-question quick-fire quiz.
Mr Wootton, a year five teacher at Wakefield Methodist Junior, Infant & Nursery School, came out on top in this year’s competition, answering all 10 questions correctly in an impressive 23 seconds! He knocked Miss Riley from St. Andrew’s Junior school in Brighouse (30 seconds) off the top of the leader board, to win a prize haul of ready-to-ride bikes provided by us at Wilco Motosave plus helmets courtesy of Oxford Products.
Mr Wootton, who was presented with a trophy by Heart Yorkshire Breakfast Show hosts Dixie & Emma yesterday, said: “What an amazing gift to give the children before the summer holidays. Thank you so much to Heart and [presenters] Dixie and Emma and Wilco Motosave for making memories that will last forever.”
Headteacher Mrs Clark added: “As a school we spend a lot of time teaching children to cycle and this will really help them to be safe on the roads in the future.” Colin Cuttress, our Cycling Training and Development Manager added: “We are so happy that the bikes have gone to such a lovely local school. Well done to all who entered.”
